Nine quotes for the ninth letter

This is I time.

This is my ninth post for A to Z challenge.

This post will be a bit different than some posts published earlier.

I will be sharing nine quotes for the ninth letter entry.

All the nine quotes are from on book only.

Here are some interesting points about this book:
  • The author is Indian
  • This books is his first work
  • Genre: Mashup novel
  • Language : English
  • Book translations available in more than 15 languages
  • Topic : Hindu mythology
The book is called 'Immortals of Meluha'. The name of the author is Amish Tripathi. This book was published in the year 2010.

It is the first novel in a trilogy. The series is known as 'Shiva Trilogy'.

The three books in the series include:
  1. The Immortals of Meluha
  2. The Secret of the Nagas
  3. The Oath of the Vayuputras
You can find more information about the author and the books (he has written another trilogy based on Ram). (authoramish)

Let me come to the main part of the post now. Here are amazing quotes from this beautiful book.

1. Whether a man is a legend or not is decided by history, not fortune tellers.

2. A person's ethics and character are not tested in good times. It is only in bad times that a person shows how steadfast he is to his dharma.

3. Hate is not the opposite of Love. It is apathy.

4. People do what their society rewards them for doing. If the society rewards trust, people will be trusting.

5. And if there is anything that appears like a miracle, the only explanation is that a scientific reason for it has not been discovered as yet.

6. If you want something from someone, you have to give that person something they want.

7. If the entire society was conscious of its duties, nobody would need to fight for their individual rights.

8. One’s reality is but perception, viewed through various prisms of context.

9. I don't believe in symbolic gods.I believe that god exists all around us. In the flow of the river, in the rustle of the trees, in the whisper of the winds. He speaks to us all the time. All we need to do is listen.

I am particularly fond of the last quote. This is because I feel the same way about God. I believe that respecting and acknowledging people, the nature is like a service to God.

Now, it is time for you to share your views. have you read this book or any other work of the same author?

I wanted to share quotes from Inferno by Dan Brown in the same post. I will do that next time.

Please do share your favorite books that start with I. I would not mind a few suggestions for J. :)

Hope you all are having a nice week blogging. See you tomorrow.

  6. Haven't read Amish Tripathi. Prefer the original version of Ramayana :) My favourite books with I - (the) Inner Courtyard, an anthology of shorts by Indian women writers, and also I Think of You by Ahdaf Soueif.
