R for Robinson

Weekend is here!

This Saturday I am writing a blog post for A to Z blogging challenge.

It is time to write a post for letter R. As usual I will share a book and quotes from it.

The book that I will be sharing today is Robinson Crusoe.

This is an adventure, fiction book written by Daniel Defoe. This book was published in 1719.

An interesting fact about the book is that people believed that this protagonist was actually a real person. The thought it was a travelogue of true incidents.

It is also one of the most published and translated book around the world. The popularity of the book is also evident from many adaptations and imitations.

Now let us come to the quotes.

14 awesome quotes from Robinson Crusoe

1. It is never too late to be wise.

2. Fear of danger is ten thousand times more terrifying than danger itself.

3. Redemption from sin is greater then redemption from affliction.

4. For sudden Joys, like Griefs, confound at first.

5, All evils are to be considered with the good that is in them, and with what worse attends them.

6. Man is a short-sighted creature, sees but a very little way before him; and as his passions are none of his best friends, so his particular affections are generally his worst counselors.

7. It is as reasonable to represent one kind of imprisonment by another as it is to represent anything that really exists by that which exists not.

8. All our discontents about what we want appeared to me to spring from the want of thankfulness for what we have.

9. Abused prosperity is oftentimes made the means of our greatest adversity.

10. We never see the true state of our condition till it is illustrated to us by its contraries, nor know how to value what we enjoy, but by the want of it.

11. For that gratitude was no inherent virtue in the nature of man, nor did men always square their dealings by the obligations they had received so much as they did by the advantages they expected.

12. Let no man despise the secret hints and notices of danger which sometimes are given him when he may think there is no possibility of its being real.

13. How frequently, in the course of our lives, the evil which in itself we seek most to shun, and which, when we are fallen into, is the most dreadful to us, is oftentimes the very means or door of our deliverance, by which alone we can be raised again from the affliction we are fallen into.

14. Wait on the Lord, and be of good cheer, and he shall strengthen thy heart; wait, I say, on the Lord.

This is so wonderful.

Here is a book that was published 299 years ago to be exact.
This book must have inspired and given joy to so many readers around the world.

I am just thankful to all these wonderful authors and marvelous books.

I feel connected to the readers who have read the same book even if we speak different language, live in different parts of the world. These books work like a channel and spread joy everywhere.

I hope you like this collection of quotes.
Don't forget to share your favorite quote!

Happy weekend everyone. I will see you again. Enjoy your day!

  1. I loved the first quote,'it is never too late to be wise' which I try to live by as 'when you know better, do better'. I read the book many years ago. I guesd time for a revisit.
